Default Quick detach stuff

Glad I found this forum. I have been reading for awhile. I just bought an 04 Fatboy, 1300 miles on the bike, has the windshield, V&H 2-1 pipe, no bagsand noback rest. Do I have to relocate blinkers to put on quick detach hardware? I'm confused on why such an ordeal. The bike has a corbin seat with driver backrest, the previous owner gave me his stock 03 heritage seat that I may swap out for two up riding and would like a backrest to fit with that seat. May just op for a sissy bar bag for now instead of saddlebags. Maybe I should just get a regular solid mount sissy bar?

Its a quest I embarked upon myself. In the endI went for the detachable set up....just because I dont like the look of the sissy bar - but I need to be carry a tent and camping gear when I go away for weekends, so it was untilmately a detachable sissy bar and rack combo that I chose.

Beauty of this solution is that it comes off in a moment and the bike looks clean when its not in use.

You need to relocate the indicators for the detach stuff, although if you use the search facility and few guys on this forum have fround away parts of the detach. sideplatesto allow the required clearance between the plates and the indicators - i didnt fancy screwing up the finish of the chromefor the sake of the minimal indicator relocation kit cost.

The parts i got are below..if this helps

rack 53862-00 ÂŁ109.96sideplates 53810-00A ÂŁ123.16docking kit 53932-03 ÂŁ30.76relocation kit53959-06 ÂŁ30.76Fatboy backrest pad 52532-90 ÂŁ61.56(notice how much more we pay in the uk for our parts - and this is via a site that doesnt charge the dreaded 17.5% VAT and postage- as they are offshore)From the other forum members it seems the biggest hassle is the indicator relocation bit......Ive yet to start mine - just gatthering all the parts...perhaps somebody else may be able to expand upon this. Again, the search facilty wil help.

Yeah - it's necessary becasue of the way the mounting points align. Not very hard install - did mine in less than an hour.

Yup, as you say, it is a bit of an ordeal, but, worth it. There's the docking hardware, then the relocation stuff, then you really should buy the locks for it, otherwise someone can just come along and take it off in 8 secs.

I don't believe the quick detach is much more expensive than the regular fixed one anyhow.

I'm constantly taking mine on and off depending on whether I got someone riding package or not. Believe me, after a while you'll be thinking .... Thank Gawd I got the quick detach stuff.

Welcome to the forum btw.
