I know the one-piece sissy works with the king/queen seats and the $55 sissy pad sold by Harley. Has anyone found other pads or solutions that fit the bar.? Will regular Harley sissy pads fit?
I've got a take-off FXSTC sissy coming from ebay -- Of course, I'm getting powdercoated before it goes on the bike. I'm not going to run the king/queen on the train and don't really like look of the $55 harley pad.
I decided to go with a one-piece FXSTC sissy because I think it looks better than any other sissy out there.
the sissy bar on the custom has two screw mountings, the pads for other sissy bars i think have one in the centre and then two near the bottom that fix to the sissy bar with a plate. so you might need to get creative to make a regular pad fit. the customs sissy bar has a medalion in the middle if you carefully remove that then drill a hole, for the bolt to go into the siisy bar fix it then glue the medalion back on.
The sissy bar has a HD emblem in the middle with a screw on each side ofmy 07. If you find a pad that you like it shouldn't be a big deal to change it from a single screw to two screws. They make threaded inserts that can be installed (sort of like pop rivets). They should be available from most autoparts stores and larger tool stores.
