I have bought some light pods to install around the engine area of my 08 Fatboy. Anyone know where a good place is to tap into the wiring for these lights. I was wondering if I can make these work to where I can turn the master switch on the tank and they will come on or do I have to install a seperate switch. All I have is the pods and the wires.
THE HARLEY LIGHT SET COMES WITH A SWITCH THAT PLUGS INTO AN ACCESORY HUB UNDER THE SEAT. I DONT KNOW IF YOU WANT TO HARD WIRE THE LIGHTS TO THE MAIN SWITCH. YOU SHOULD PROB GET THE ON OFF SWITCH THAT GOES WITH THE SET.
I HAD PUT THEM ON MY PREV BIKE, I THINK 4 OR 6 LIGHTS CAME IN THE SET AND I ATTACHED THE SWITCH JUST NEXT TO MY SEAT. THEY LOOKED GREAT. ON THIS BIKE IM GOING WITH ALL BLACK SO I DONT NEED THE LIGHTS
I am open for all suggesstions and ideas I can get. By the way how do like the Cross Bones. Sweet looking bike I think. The blacked out look is way cool.
I used Custom Dynamics web site and installed the Stinger lights on my 07 FXST. you can purchase a switch kit or a remote controlled kit with or without the lights. http://www.customdynamics.com/
HD makes a light pod kit (comes with a switch), and an expansion kit (extra lights and wires). the light pod kit comes with 6 pods the expansion kit comes with 4. icurrently have 18 red pods on my bike.
Run the wires that come with the pods. Basically run a complete seperate circut for these lights. A great place to hide the switch is inside the coil cover. My opinion.........hide these lights as best you can so all you see is the glow.......NOT the lights themeselves. Of course the reflection off the chrome will allow you to see SOME of the pods at certain angles. Take your time, hide the wirers, move things around if you have to. You will be proud of it when all said and done.I'll try to find some night time pix of what I have done. Good luck. K
