When I bought my 08 train, to make a long story short, it was brand new. When I picked it up the headlight was crooked as hell and it had grease, oil all over it, they didn't bother to clean it up. So I am due for the 1k service, which was worked in as "free" reluctantly by the dealer. I think I am going to pass on the offer and do it myself. If they couldn't even prep the bike for pickup, then I would say most likely they won't do everything in the service.
Ahhh yes, good ol' STEALERSHIPS. I went to mine today because my '07 Train didn't have the rear bumper for the swingarm.... EVER. They tried to charge me for the part and labor! I asked if a Street Glide came in with one saddlebag, if they would charge the owner to "fix" that as well....
Point being, take your bike in for the 1K. Talk directly to the service manager and explain what has happened. if that doesn't work, talk to the GM.
If all else fails, wait untill the STEALERSHIP organizes a ride for something, then corner the OWNER and let him know how HIS people have treated you. Oh yeah, my point... Don't back down from them. Hold them responsible for their actions.
I'am bringing my nighttrain in on monday,I was going to do it myself but i was told if the first service is not done by a dealer that it can screaw up you warrenty.Don't no if this is true but I'am not going to take my chances
Agree they did a sh%T job on the prep, but I would let them do the service if it is free. If anything is wrong with the bike when you pick it up make them correct it.
Federal Law PROHIBITS the dealer from voiding your warranty unless it can bePROVEN
that the work and or parts caused a failure. DON'T LET THEM B.S. you!
I agree with everyone else, take it in and let them service it. If the service is free then you are not loosing anything. I would talk to the service manager, one on one, and let him know how the bike looked when you picked it up. I bet he take a personal interest in making you happy. If they do a good job be sure and tell them thanks since you are going to complain up front. He maybe getting paid to do his job, but having the service manager like you could be an asset in the future.
