Any opinions on the detachable windscreen for the cross bones...know hd makes two...would like to know how they look and does the hardware blend well with the bike....have a 07 Ultra and having a hard time getting used to the wind...but don't want to screw up the look of the bike.
I got the taller windshield and like it very well. My opinion has always been, if you are going to run a windshield then get the biggest most effective one you can. The windshield is in perfect alignment with the front end and sitting on the tractor seat I look over the windshield, but it is tall enough that I can duck under it during rainstorms. Also it being taller, I like how it is tapered at the top vs the shorter one that is more cut off. The bracket is chrome, but is not distracting because of the chrome springs and shock of the springer front end. If you wanted to get it powdercoated gloss black, my local shop quoted me about $20. If you install it yourself, be aware that the instructions were modified in March 08 to change the mounting points for the throttle cable guides, which if you follow the instructions supplied with the kit, they will hit the tank when turning the handlebars full right. If interested I can email you the pdf file..just email me at tnharley@comcast.net. I have attached some pics of the windshield on the XBones.

You asked for opinions so here's mine - why in the heck would you buy a Crossbones and then ruin the intended look by adding a windshield? If you want to cut back on the wind, ride your Ultra. If you want to cruise and look cool, ride the Bones!
i have the 9" and it is tinted (lightly) i will add pics as soon as i finish with upgrades that i am working with. if you do alot of highway riding, like myself the shield is a life saver (bugs, rain, and most of all wind). i do not feel i detracts from the look of the bike. the hardware is chrome, but its hard to see. i love mine
if i had the bones I'd be getting the windshield bags etc just like my heritage - for the missus on longer trips .... doesn;t mean that I use it all the time - in fact the opposite.
Screaming eagle - still waiting for you to post a pic with the bike optioned up. have you resolved the peg issue ?

YES...vance and hinses makes the left side bracket...its 20 bucks. their part number is 16937 (i dont have it in front of me- i may have transposed a number) but the dealer ordered it and will be installing it, hopefully tommorow, since i am leaving the bike to be dyno tuned. i am also working out a deal for the wrinkle black rocker boxes, cam cover and top and side tranny covers...i will update y'all thursday
