I was wondering if anyone out there might have some information about springers? My brother-in-law has a 96 Badboy and I've noticed that everytime you let go of the handlebars, the front end starts to wobble terribly! My brother-in-law tells me this is normal on a Badboy! I'd just like to know if this is true? I can ride my Roadking for miles and miles without ever touching the handlebars and never get a wobble.
I don't know if he's ever done that on the bike...he hasn't owned it very long and he usually has all work done by a Harley mechanic. I would think that his mechanic would have picked up on the problem if it was something that was wrong with the bike. That's why I wanted to ask Springer owners...you can't get better information than the guys/gals that own them!!??
I know nothing about the badboy but myfatboy just had its first service and I asked the dealer to check the stearing because I was getting a fast wobble (almost a vibration)at speed. They said they'd look at it but after the service it was no better so I took it to an experienced wrench (ex-HD) who spotted very quickly that the bolts holding the stearing head were very loose.
I won't assume anything when it comes to stuff like this again, get a second opinion, and be with them when they check the bike.
Ok, then can I assume this is not something that's normal for a Springer Badboy? I can't imagine this would be an acceptable condition on any Harley!? But, my brother-in-law has a tendancy to believe anyone that says they're an expert!! Let me also say that I've only ridden this bike twice. This is not a high speed wobble! It wobbles at almost any speed. I'd love to hear from the Springer clan saying their bikes don't wobble when you let go of the bars!?
