Default Dragggg Bars

I am back on the subject of drag bars for my 07 Fatboy. I have aps and am going for something different. I just want to poll you all and see dragswould be easiest on the back. I hated the stock bars because there was just enough half lean to make my back ache after 20 minutes of riding. Help please.

many thanks, Brent.

I've ridden drag bars and apes, the drag bars are gonna kill your lower back and make your handle go numb after 30 minutes of riding. Apes keep you sitting upright and don't put pressure on the palms. Of course this is just my opionin and others will dissagree, but if your planning on riding more than 30 minutes at a time I'd stay with apes.

I have an 08 NIGHTTRAIN, I love the dragbars, before it I had a SPORTSTER that I put dragbars on. I am 5' 6" tall, and I find that my biggest problem is the forward controls for my feet, not the bars. In fact I put 4" risers on my TRAIN instead of the stock 6" to lean me over a little futher. Plus it lets me throw it around in the corners better.

I have 8" T-Bars on my Custom. Love them.
Perfect seating position.
Height 8" Width 31.5" Pullback 10.5" Thickness 1.5"
These put your grips in about the same position as a Duece but just look a lot better.

I would never consider drag bars. Especially for any kind of long rides. Apes are great.

OK, if the drags are not the best option, are there any other choices. I have 16" Wild One apes now?

I love my drag bars I'am 6'4 and they are at the perfect spot for me but not every one is as tall as me so it comes down to comfort for you sometimes not just looks, some bikes may look great but they will kill your back, but dame they look nice sitting there

It is ALL about what you think and like. I would suggest that you go and rent a Train for an afternoon (unless you know someone who will let you ride theirs) and try out the drags. I love mine. Threw on 8" risers and they are even better. On the flip side, I had 15" apes on my last bike, XL1200c, and they were great too! Unless you are riding to the other side of the country, either one is comfortable enough, in my opinion, but you should feel them out for yourself. The other thing you could do is get a piece of 1" pipe from the home depot. cut it between 29" & 31" and mock it up on your ride. Tuck away the cables and go for a spin! Now, you may not want the "broomstick" bars, but you will at least have a taste of what drags would feel like on your bike. Just an idea.... that I have used before, btw.

I put tallest drag bars from wild1 (507's) because I'm 6'3" and didn't think apes would look good on a deuce.I can and do ride all day without a comfort issue. But having said that I am still looking into apes. [&:]

The 507s are something that I would consider. I also like the looks of the HD street slammers. As to the bars on a Train, that is too much of a drag bar for me. I test drove one before buying the Fatboy, and the bar forward peg combo was really hard for me. One thing I did like a whole lot was when I rented a Deuce. I loved the bars on it and they were not the least bit uncomfortalbe. Maybe I could put Deuce bars or something similar on my Fatboy. Think that would work?
