I bought the FXST because of value (cheap) and I had a blank canvas to work with as I new I would be tinkering. Chrome is nice but a lot of work so again the FXST was better for me. As for traveling I have been across most of Canada and parts of the US, going to Alaska this summer. I find the ride fine. I am going to extend the forward controles some day as they are to close (Arlen Ness has a kit for under $200.00). At this point I have put about $1500 in extras to get where it is. paint not included as I did it myself. The Heritage Classic is a hot bike and if you want good looks without changing things much then thats the ride for you. If I had to do it again I would buy the stripped down Heritage as it is cheap and a good starting point for some custom work but for now no plans in the future to sell or trade. .

Hey I agree with what has been said. It all comes down to what style you like and what you are going to do with the bike. For me it was between the Heritage and the Road King. But the styling of the Heritage and riding position was a better fit for me. Test ride and decide what you are going to do with the bike. But dont wait too long riding weather is comming.

With the right seat and bars the FXST does long trips fine. Me and wife did 500 miler one day to San Antonio last summer and have reservations for Gatlinburg 800 miler this summer. Going to do 2 dayer for wife. Leaving there and ridding the Trace down to Natchez Miss. and hook up with the H.O.G ralley with out wind shield. With all the quick disconnect you can have the best of both worlds. If you like the classic look better the Heritage with floor boards, shield, frount end and big tire will be more comfortable all things equal. Best bet is have a friend with a Heritage and stow all your extra junk in his bags like we do. Every FXST needs there own "bagger"!!!
