This may sound strange... but how do the bags "normally" attach to the bike? I was assuming that there were holes that the bolts went through to go into the fender where the current bolts are... Since the Ghost and Easy Brackets want you to drill the bags... I am strating to think that is not the case.
Let's say I were to buy the bags from Harley that they say are for the fatboy... How do they attach?
I had a set of easy brackets for my Heritage Softail with some smaller bags and they worked just fine, very well made. I have since replaced those bags with Harley Heritage Softail Classic bags and am going to get another set of easy brackets. They make a model just for this application. I bet the brackets use holes that are closer together than the normal mounting holes, but I'm not sure. I would recommend the easy brackets but know nothing about the other brand.
how securely do they attach, is there any risk of the bags flying off if you hit a bad bump?
I lost a sissybar bag last summer, I don't know where, but it was packed full of uniforms and other military gear that I was taking home to wash, luckly someone found it and returned it to the armory, probably beacuse it stank so bad, one uniform I wore while swimming in a pond and the other I had worn for two weeks straight, man, I tell you what if I had more uniforms I just might have just buried them in the field.
I just now got done ordering a set of the EASY Brackets off of EBay. I will get them soon and let you guys know how they are. The price was 129 with free shipping. That's the best I personally could find anywhere. I have the Fat Boy Harley bags, I got them for Christmas. Like I say, I'll let you know soon.

I'll look and I'll get back to you on that. However, I'm sure that the brackets bolt onto the back of the saddlebag and the holes should line up just the way they would if we attached the bags onto the bike directly and permanently. I'll let you know.

Hey, wentpostal,
I just emailed you back with an answer. It is so hard to explain in only words with a pic. Anyway, the back of the bags have two holes in there already and they will line up I'm assumng with the lugs in the fender on both sides. I wish I had my bike here to compare it to also. Sorry.
