Need a little help...
Now i have asked this before and talked to different people and get different answers. everyone says something different, and will probably again. BUT... i wanna take off my stock mufflers and run just the pipes (or headers) i have measured and they are just as long as some of the other custom exhuast out there. my question is will this hurt the bike in any way? i was thiinking it might help with back pressure if i put some baffles in the pipe or volocity cone. idk?? and maybe putting stage 1 on the bike as well will help out. i like the looks of the pipes without the mufflers. i know you have your opinion and i have mine. but besides looks whats the problem with this? bad for the bike?
This is a bad idea.
It can be done, but not w/a stage I flash. You will need a dyno and custom map or you will melt engine components.
It will perform like crap, you will loose your low-end and move you top-end power beyond where a big V can operate... your streetable power will be crap.
It will be loud, if that's all you're going for, go for it, but you will melt components if you don't get a GOOD tuner, it will be difficult to tune as well, and your gas milage will suck: it will take allot of fuel to keep that burn cool, and it will not make power, so you will be heavy on the throttle.
Why don't you save money in the long-run and just buy a good set of pipes...
