I think if you could find a way to let go of the bars in a curve, you wouldn't have the wobble. Apes are really sensitive to input and when you hang on too hard in a curve or at high speed, you make them wobble.

Caveat: It's possible you may have some other problem, but if everything else is right, you're hanging on too hard.
Everything else must be fine. I only had wobble after the bar change. Thanks

I have 13" apes on Reaper, and have been over 120mph without any wobble whatsoever. Did you change the riser bushings to polyurethane? When I first put the apes on, I kept the stock rubber bushings, but I found the bars would move a lot, which made the steering feel mushy. Once I changed over to the poly bushings, the movement went away, and the steering felt much more solid.

Cheers!

Yeah !!! Never thought about the poly bushings for the back and forth moving. I'm there, thanks friend.

It's exactly what others have said , your holding on to tight and riding to stiff . You can also try tightening the neck that will stiffen the steering so you won't feel every little movement you make
I'll look into the neck adjustment. Thanks

I never been a fan of apes, you are not in the best position for control...I am more of a form follows function kinda guy, I run darg bars
I like the way they look and they are made for control...much better than stock...but to each their own.

You have to get used to it. I had the same problem when i first installed my 18 inch apes. but now i cruise and take curves with one hand on the throttle and its all good.

Question for those with apehangers. I have 16" x 11/4 on my '08 FXSTC. I notice anytime I'm over 70MPH I get wobble in the bars especially going around bends on the highway. I have a heck of a time in 6th at 75 or so on the highway. I know I didn't have ANY trouble with the stock bars. Also anyone also notice all the extra wind that whales off ya.

jim
I haven't had problems with mine...same set up as you've got I'm assuming.

Looks like the same set up. It just seems at about 70/75 going around large curves I get a shimmy and maybe its me as others said.
