Default Fork oil question

I have a '94 Heritage thats started to squeak when the forks are depressed. The HD manual of course only gives the OEM part number and no oil weight. Anyone out there know what over the counter oil will work here and how much to add when refilling the forks? Its a 40 mile round trin to the closest HD stealer and the Kawasaki oriented parts guy doesn't have too many answers... except how much to pay.
