like i said maybe we let it run dry then it will quit.. wonder why they cant put grease in there that wont leak. or why does it need so much grease that it leaks..
My 07 FXST didn't do it until I pumped right full of grease after I adjusted steering head bearing. The bearings must be packed seperately when initially assembled. When I greased it took, and took, and took some more. Did any of you have your 1000 mi service done at the stealer?
my rocker does the same thing almost 2000 miles the dealer says all bikes do it to a degree but my other two dont.. i hope it stops also tired of cleaning it but i guess its not hurting anything and that what i worry about most. when i quits leaking is it empty lol
+1 with my Rocker. It seems to have stopped now with 1,000 miles.
It will stop eventually. Every service it seems someone puts too much in there and heat makes it expand and drip out of there. On one ride after the 10,000 srvc. on the softail, a big glob of grease flew up and ended up on my shirt. My buddies started asking me if I was riding an old shovelhead or something.Gained a new nickname after that one. They started calling me"Slick Eddie". Can't seem to shake that one.
i have been seeing an oil or grease on my rocker box and frame and seat. i finally traced it back to the steering neck. why is there grease leaking out of ther, and how can i stop it
Go to any reputable bike shop and order something called Motorex 2000. It's a synthetic grease and will not run or drip all over everything. Since Harley has no seals at the bottom of the neck it will still get pushed out from the rollers but it will just sit there until you whipe it off. Won't run or drip though. Some of the original grease that gets pushed to the bottom will still drip for a week or so, but once it's gone no more problems with the new grease. http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...0--616861.html Ron
