I changed my back tire went from a metzler to a dunlop same size now my belt rubs on tire not bad just enough to keep sidewall shiny gonna run it through this year then find something \\; narrower. Is it usual for different brands to run different in width?
Not sure about the different widths. \\; Sounds possible but you may want to double check axle adjustments (belt tensioners) to make sure rear wheel is not off camber.
I have a Dunlap 140 on my Softail. It also is almost right up against the tire and I noticed some rub marks.
I do not know if it means anything but I used an infrared thermometer and the temperature was the same on both sidewalls and both sides of the belt after a long ride. I figured I would just keep watching it and maybe switch to a different tire after the season is over. I did check my axle spacers and also my belt it all the way to the left on the primary pulley so a spacer will not help.
The alignment is fine I actually had to camber a little to the right to relieve some of the rub the size is 140/90v16 I know the stock size is mt90 16.I layed a sraight edge across the beads and could see on the pulley the tire is a little wide.I plan on changing it out after running some miles on it.I just want to keep the widest rubber possible on it.The bike is a 1990 softtail custom.I know the previous owner had it lowered and I think that was when the tire was changed I bought the bike from his family after he died and they knew very little about what he did to it.
