Default Chrome front end

I just purchased a chrome front end kit for my 07 Fatboy, I'm thinking about installing it myself, is this doable? Any hints greatly appreciated.

It's do-able, but I'm going to put it at about a 5.5 to 6.0 on the difficulty scale.&nbsp\\;Take your time and make sure you have all the right tools.&nbsp\\;I do remember needing to pick up a longer, I believe, allen head&nbsp\\;wrench.&nbsp\\;Take your time and, with some level of mechanical ability, you should be&nbsp\\;able to do it.&nbsp\\;

No need to remove the Springs. You are only changing Lower Sliders and Upper Cover. Once you get that 6mm bolt out the worst is over...

Did mine over the Winter, first time for me too...

You're right.&nbsp\\; My memory is fading.&nbsp\\; In my case, I took them apart to diagnose a noise coming from inside my left fork.

I put the long 6mm allen wrench on my 1/2 inch breaker bar with an adaptor. It made breaking that bolt loose much easier. I held the fork leg with a large pipe wrench at the bottom of the legs where the axle bolt goes through. Plan on four to six hours so you can take your time and double check your work as you go. I had never done it before and finished my Heritage in five hours, all polished and ready to ride. If you can change your own oil and filter and are mechanically inclined you should have no problems.

easiest way to get the 6mm allen out of the bottom of the forks is with an impact wrench....first time used an air impact second time an electric....mine would NOT break loose without the impact....
&nbsp\\;
the only other part that was a PITA was lifting the gas tank to disconnect the headlight.&nbsp\\; it's a lot of work just to disconnect something IMO

If you take out the front bolt for the gas tank and take of the main fuel line, its quick disconnect so you dont break the line, you should be able to slide the tank back out of the way without removing the front cross over line. Only takes a few minutes that way. Make sure you seat the 6mm allen wrench all the way or you might strip the bolt.
