I also use aluminum foil under the filter. Some owner's drill a hole in the filter to allow the oil to drain out, but make sure you break the filter loose first. I&nbsp\\;spray brake cleaner on the engine where any oil gets on. It cleans up without leaving any residue.

Check out the Billetcool oil cooler. it'll make changes easier (no more crank position sensor in the way)...and filter removal/clean up is a snap. http://www.billetcool.com/&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;

P.S. Does a a great job of cooling too.

I use a plastic grocery bag around the filter after I loosen it up. The filter falls into the bag and that's all she wrote. No mess, give it a try!

I got some stuff called Grease Lightening. After spraying the area around the filter and voltage regulator, the engine there is blacker (cleaner) than the rest of the engine. Wow!
&nbsp\\;
I can tell there is still oil residue on the wires down there though, probably from previous changes and I just never noticed. I think later this week I will take the cover off and spray everything down there real good, and perhaps the rest of the engine. It's so black it looks wet. Amazing stuff.

Greased Lightning is wonderful stuff, just don't get it on any aluminum, it will turn it black.

I use a piece of cardboard under the filter but I like the plastic shopping bag

When you put your case of beer in the fridge, cut yourself a piece out of the beer box to slide under the filter.&nbsp\\; Dang, I need to change oil again!!
