Default Tires

Just bought a 04 springer softail (at my age, 58, WHAT WAS I THINKING?). Will need to replace the rear tire shortly and was wondering how wide I can go on the stock wheel. Currently has a 150/80/16.

Thanks
Ted (oldman)

Email Metezler, I think their Marathon880 160/16 will fit fine, and look good on the bike, much bigger and you may have clearance issues and IMHO will certainly spoil the look of the bike.

Thanks WildBill for the info. Will definitely give it a try before I buy.

Oh, should have mentioned rim width, make sure the manufacture of the tyre you choose specifies the rim you are using as being suitable. I have a 3 1/2" rear and Metzeler state the 160 will fit but I think if you go wider you will need a wider rim or risk altering the tyre profile at best, and at worst[:@][]

I have the same question. Will a Metzeler 160/80-16 fit on a stock '05 Softail Deluxe? rim width is 3".
