Default Removing Chrome Cover on Dash?

I want to remove this chrome flame cover from the dash. Can it be done without screwing up the tank and the original chrome dash piece underneath? Is so how? How difficult will it be?

If not, can I put another piece over the flames or will it sit too high, not close enough to the tank, and look lame?

Thanks

It should just lift off after you undo the nut between the speedometer and keyswitch.

The guy I bought the bike from said that it has an adhesive and may be difficult to remove? I dont know if he actually put it on, or the dealership.

Why not just leave it? You already have matching floorboards. I would, however, get rid of the leather piece behind and replace with the chrome dash extension.

The foot boards stayed with the seller... Its a personal thing, I prefer not to have flames.

Sorry, I thought the foot boards were on it. In that case, try a heat gun and peel the decal off. That's what I do.

So it is glued on? Is their any chance or ruining the paint or chrome underneath? What did you do to remove the residual adhesive? Sorry for all the questions. I want to be careful, and not screw up&nbsp\\; the tank.

I understand that I could "test" it and try it. But, if I test wrong, not knowing what Im doing, applying too much heat or using some adhesive remover thats bad for chrome or pant or... well then its too late and the tank could be screwed up.

You could try to find someone to just trade you dash shrouds.&nbsp\\; That one is pretty cool I think.
