When i am starting my bike, during cranking, its emits a loud 'BANG', like you just fired a round. Afterwhich \\;the engine starts running. Seems to happen more frequently recently, what could be the problem.
 \\;
I have a PCIII, k&\\;n and stock pipes with the baffles removed.
I dont know what it is but my bike has done it since I picked it up at the dealer. I questioned him about it and he said it is normal and everything is ok
HD says it's normal. Ain't that great? My RK only does it occasionally. I've read on here and other forums of starter component problems on higher mileage '07s.
The loud 'bang', like if somebody hits the inside of your engine with a huge hammer, was explained to me as a result of a kind of 'shock absorber' on the crankshaft. Makes sense to me. And there is 'a lot of shock to absorbe'
When I push the start-button as short as possible, just to get the engine running, the noise is not there, or at least very weak.

The 'Bang' i mentioned is really like you fired a round from a pistol, its like too much fuel going in and ignite suddenly causing an 'explosion' which sends the cats running.
Mine starts with a loud exhaust ( bang ) quite a few times. It is instantaneous with hitting the starter button. It doesn't seem like the starter even has time to turn the engine over.
