I am not 100% sure, but I believe all of the long softail rear fenders will interchange bolting up to the fender struts. ex; fatboy, heitage, heritage classic & Deluxe. Check with service guys to be sure.
It's the same width as your bobtail fender as they both used the same size tire in '05. If I was you I'd go for the Fatboy fender, it hasn't got the indents for the rear light bar (smoother look) and use the indicators that go on the struts. I have a mate that did the conversion but in opposite, he bolted a bobtail fender on his Fatboy with no major troubles.
Ive changed the fenders on my FXSTI. Went with Heritage up front and Deluxe in the back. Check the pics. By the way, you can find them on eBay avg price 125 bucks. The rear fender did require purchase of hardware from HD for like 20 bucks.
I have the fatboy fender on mine. 01 fxst with a new 05 fatboy fender. Bolts right on, uses the existing wire harness with no adjusting and your tail light flips over to fit. I should mention that you will have to buy the chrome tailight base for like $30 or so. I got a stock plate holder from the HD boys thrown in as they have a stock pile of them from guys swapping for the lay downs. I'm not fussy so took a stock one. It was black so it matched my paint.
JP Cycles has a good selection of fenders in their book or website. I thought about that as well but was not sure how the plate would affect throw over bags so I went with the FB fender.
