Has anyone had a 50K mile service on a softail twinky? \\;
I'm getting ready to do a 10K at 50K miles, is there anything extra that I should be looking at/replacing? \\;
Final drive belt is ok, no chips, not at the end of streatch life
Cam chain tensioners are still fine
Yes, rear shock are going to be replaced shortly (within 5K miles with air tail)
 \\;
I do all my own wrenching and the dealerships won't talk except "bring it in." \\; Indy not sure with a twinky.
 \\;
 \\;
I agree. \\; If you think about it, what more can you do? \\; I believe the owners manual or the shop manual has a maintenance schedule. \\;
My 2005 Softail, maintenance manual, only goes to 25,000 miles. Just do what you normally do \\; after every 5,000 and 10,000 mile interval.
There was 1 \\;note that said to disassemble, lubricate and inspect the steering head bearings every 30,000 miles on all but the springer models. They were suppose to be done every 20,000 miles.
Tom.
 \\;
Asylumscycle, have to had to change your cam chain followers? \\; I'm still on the factory ones with very little wear. \\; When I reach the end of the warrenty (2010) changing to gear drive cams.
 \\;
100 k &\\; just follow the intervals @ 5k 10k &\\; 20k , The Final Drive belt should last well up to 100 k so long as no rocks have penitrated it &\\; it has no bracks etc in it , I replaced mine after 70k just becuase but held onto the old one just incase.
Everything looked ok until I popped the cam cover. \\; Rear tensioner shoe fell apart when I touched it to see how much wear was there. \\; Made appointment for the warrenty work next week. \\; Damn, I gonna miss almost \\;2 weeks worth of riding. \\; Guess that's better than gernading the motor. \\;
 \\;
Has 49,873 miles on it and they are the orginal shoes from the factory. \\;
I run HD synthetic (HD oil ONLY because of the warrenty)
Change oil and filter every 5,000 miles. \\;
Alway open up the old filter to check for junk. \\;
Motor is stock configuration including the exhaust. \\; Only tweeked the carb. \\;
It's not hot rodded. \\;
Sees 80 mph \\;on the freeway (Commuter) \\;but mostly back roads around 45 - 50 mph.
 \\;
Just wanted you to know my details of the cam chain tensioners. \\;
See last line of my signature.
