Default Thumbs down on Victory Jackpot

I tried my buddy's Victory Jackpot with the large 280 tire. Its a very nice looking bike however its a very awkward bike to ride and I found the front end quite heavy to steer and the small front tire a challenge. Makes me appreciate how balanced and easy to ride my FatBoy is. I will stick to HD bikes thanks ! No offence intended to any Victory riders out there.

Greetings,
&nbsp\\;
I've ridden different ones of those and I'm far from impressed with them. We're not alone in our thoughts as Polaris International doesn't seem to be selling too many bikes. All of their gains are in the ATV and side-by-side markets, not the motorcycle end of things.

I have to agree I went with a buddy who is in love with Victory, to their test ride days.&nbsp\\; Man we, as Harley owners have nothing to worry about, the fit and finish on the V's was really poor in my opinion, clutch cable comes accross the back of the engine housing and in thru case via a lever, the trannys where noisy and hard to find neutral, shift levers where loose and flopping around. &nbsp\\; I am not a bagger style person but took the Vision out cause that would be as close as I come to riding one, sounded like an old 53 Merc truck, back off in any gear and terrible gear whine and lots of enging noise.&nbsp\\; But each to their own.&nbsp\\;

As you can tell by my signature I WAS a former Victory owner. I bought New a 1999 V92C Cruiser after selling my 92 Fatboy. My beef with Victory was dealer support. The clunky tranny is a fixed issue with the new Victory's. Mine shifted like an old Farmall Tractor. I put 77,000 miles on that scoot, and for the most part&nbsp\\;I liked it because it was "different", BUT trying to find a competent wrench, well that is a different story. Was stranded a short while on a trip to Sturgis, the closest dealer was 400 miles away. I was lucky a Victory rider helped me out. I found my way back to the Motor Co. and I aint never going to leave again no matter what Victory comes out with next.&nbsp\\;

While I have friends who own and love them, I just can't warm up to the look. The engine looks 'off', its not something I can explain and if I had to no one would understand anyway.
That bagger the make is just too strange for words and in my book makes a Gold Wing or BMW look good, and you know that can't be a good thing.

Different animals, apples and oranges, I still know guys prefer Royal star over Harley Davidson, Ford owners recommend Dodge, know what I mean?

I think H-D does need competent competition but sounds like Polaris needs to worry about the specs, build, finish and engineering and not so much about silly outlandish designs.

They need to redo the old cruiser line, get the kinks out of the handling performance and build, and finish the bike proper.. and no that doesn't mean cute creases in the sheet metal or swoopy styling.

Just build a basic solid bike and get good dealers and wrenches spread out so there's some support for the products.

$20 says though with the current economy, the Vic bike brand won't hang.. They'll take the eternal celestial dirt-nap (ie. shut down completely). Same with Indian, before they even get off the ground.
