$20 says though with the current economy, the Vic bike brand won't hang.. They'll take the eternal celestial dirt-nap (ie. shut down completely). Same with Indian, before they even get off the ground.
I agree. When there were waiting lists for Harley's and people paid more than MSRP it probably seemed like a good idea to start a new American motorcycle company. It doesn't sound like a good idea now.
I've been predicting for years that one of the Japanese big 4 will swoop in and buy the Indian name and slap it on their cruisers. Kawasaki would sell a lot more Drifters if they said Indian on the tank.
I think they bet the farm on that silly looking bagger they came out with last year. I ain't seen but one of em on the road since. And the rest of the lineup looks like a second rate metric. I hope for their sake it snows this year. But even if it does, their snowmobiles suck too. I wouldn't be buying any of their stock.

Nope not gonna happen, the Japs had plenty of opportunity to buy the Indian brand if they wanted to and they didn't so I can't see them doing it anytime soon, especially with a depressed market.
A couple of guys Ive talked with about their Victorys I found were more anti-Harley then pro-Victory and they dont want a metric so they ride whats left.
I think competition is always good and it is good that customers have a choice of American bikes. Me...I just don't care for the looks. You'll always see HD guys looking at them at bike nite, but the Victory guys hardley acknowledge us.

I have seen two on the road and one of those was for sale. U.G.L.Y. you aint gots no alibi, yous ugly. yous ugly!
The wheels on a Victory look cartoonish. The fenders are so exaggerated they are like a caricature. And the engine doesn't look quite right, but I can't quite explain it. I had looked at them for a while before buying my Heritage. My thinking at the time was I might get one cheaper than a HD and then I could swap the fenders and the wheels out. Then I thought, at best, it would like like a metric cruiser, and if I wanted that look, then may as well buy a Honda. I am glad I waited until prices came down to more realistic levels and found the right bike for me on ebay last month. I also found the right bike for my dad on ebay and he bought his the day after I bought mine. I've got a 1995 Heritage Softail Classic and my dad has a 1996 Road King Police Special.

Asheville? Cool. AC Reynolds class of 83.
DUDE!!!!
Go Rockets! Class of 87! Small dang world huh!
No joke.. actually I liked the drifters.. if they put something besides a itty bitty 800cc in that thing, it would have been a cool scoot. Actually got passed over the weekend (on 74 no joke) by some scoot with straight pipes which sounded pretty dang good.. Single-pin crank of some kind but it was some metric.. I was pleasantly shocked actually.
Actually, if the metric bikes could get away with NOT being sued everytime they do a plain-jane tear-drop gas tank or one of the fenders happens to have a profile a little too close to an FL bike, then they could make some cool bikes.. They have to make them ugly because H-D sues them when they make them more generically classic which looks too much like a Harley. Sad way to kill good competition I say.
I'd still love to test ride a vulcan 2000 to see what 125 cubes of Japanese twin is like.. I'd have to go aftermarket for both fenders and get rid of the cheap kawa-looking tank emblem though if I owned one. Shooooooo! Ontop of some decent wheels and other.
.. hehehe I can't believe that.. Another rocket in here.. pm me.
