Default Bleeding Brakes, help...

Installed my chrome controls today, but when I was bleeding brakes&nbsp\\;I couldn't get&nbsp\\;it back to the same firmness as before.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Used the mityvac pump to get all the air out, and the brakes work, but the brake lever is not as firm as before. Any hints?
&nbsp\\;
I also put teflon tape around the bleeder screw threads just to make sure no air was entering the line.&nbsp\\;

i just squeezed the lever slow and opened the bleeder valve, then closed bleeder valve then let off lever slowly. with a friends help of course. after many rounds of that and adding fluid i eventually got the firmness i needed. personally&nbsp\\;th lever squeezes better now than before.

1. Top up the brake fluid
2. Crack the bleeder screw open
3. Grab the brake lever all the way in slowly
4. Close the bleeder screw
5. Let go the brake lever
6. back to step 2 and repeat until you get a firm grip

Bleeding brake is pain in the S [:@]

Do you have dual or single front discs? it makes a difference which side you bleed first if you have dual front disc brakes.

Same thing happened with my sons 07 Wide Glide. Just had to keep bleeding until it firmed up. Did the squeeze lever loosen bleeder for what seemed like an hour before it got really good.

single disc.&nbsp\\; I am going to keep at it.&nbsp\\; Won't have time until later in the week.&nbsp\\; Changed master cylinders, but wouldn't think that would matter.

I just messed with my brake lever some, it feels a little better than I thought.&nbsp\\; Maybe I had too many beers yesterday.&nbsp\\; I'm going to take it for a spin and see how she does.&nbsp\\; Thanks for the help fellas.

It is really a pain to bleed the brakes... a lot of patients.... but if you are still getting a little bubble or two when releasing the lever... you still got work to do... tapping the side of the master cylinder helps also.... that little plunger does not move a lot of fluid at a time and the reason it takes so long...

The dot 5 brake fluid tends to hold a lot of tiny air bubbles. So some say to flick the brake lever a few times to break them up and get them moving. Just keep on bleeding them until it gets right.
