Hey Clammy...Ended up with an 05 black heritage classic. Did alot of research, read alot of articles, but when I went to the shop and saw the heritage classic it was a done deal. I'm 6'2 and would like to do local country roads but also have some out of state friends I'd like to take the bike to see. Would you agree on the choice?? Also have a few questions about exhausts if you wouldn't mind giving me some advice!

Nice! I believe you'll love the Heritage!
I am about to fulfill MY 20 year old dream of getting my first Harley. In a few weeks I will take delivery of an 05 Softail Night Train. I'm planning on Screamin' Eagle 2 slip ons, carb rejet and K&N high flow air filter. This is commonly known as a "Stage 1" upgrade. There are lots of people here with LOTS of experience with every HArley model out there. Ask any questions, and you'll get a bunch of answers!
The Night Train "spoke" to me the way the Heritage did to you!
Thanks I-head...I'm working on the pics. Clammy, I know about as much about motorcycles as I do cars...very little. I'm looking for better quality sound without alot more noise. Planning on the SE dual shorty slash down slip on but I'm not sure what additional items would compliment those. I'm hoping 6 mos. from now I'm not wishing I went with V and H pipes but I think they are too loud. Your comments??

Well, the Screamin' Eagle 2 slip-ons aren't TOO loud, but they're louder than stock, and flow better. So because of the better flow charaterisitcs, you need to rejet the carb, or remap the EFI, along with putting a better flowing air cleaner on. If you want more volume and that classic Harley rumble, make sure you get Screamin Eagle 2s, not the regular Screamin Eagle slip ons. The 2s are not the ones in the regular Harley catalogue. They're the ones in the "racing" catalogue. The SEs in the Harley catalogue are supposed to be identical to the stock mufflers.
Take a look around the forums. We've had LOTS of discussions about pipes/mufflers. Specifically, check out the "Exhaust" section. There's lots of great info in the various threads.
Totally cool LTR. I see you went with the slash down slip ons right? I put classic chrome visors on the head lamp and passing lamps and front and rear fender rails. Add a leather studded tank panel, HARLEY DAVIDSON gas cap, derby and timing covers and you have my bike...then again I guess they are all different anyway!!
