Cool shifting problem/Heritage 1997

Need help w/ transmission! Will not down shift to 1st & 2nd, no grinding and oil is clean. Any suggestions appreciated.

For starters, check the fluid level in the primary. To much or too little fluid will affect shifting. Also you might want to adjust the clutch.

However, I don't have any experience with Evo's.

I agree with oldgeezer. Also the evo tranny likes the vibes so rev the bike some when downshifting and see if that helps. Otherwise you may have bent shift arms.

Odds are that oldgeezer has it pegged, either or both of the conditions he mentioned are proably at the root of your problem. Especially if its easy to get it into those gears if the engine isn't running.
