Default Wishes for 2007

This is what they should build for 2007:
- A softail with full fairing, 100HP, 6-speed, 6 gallon gas tank, dual front brake rotors. In others words offer a capable and competitive touring bike out of the softail frame.

The bike you describe is already made.

It is called a GOLDWING!

yuck. the softail is the worst handling frame hd makes....adding a fairing isn't going to help. Not to mention it's gonna look funny onthe softail. imho

Since we're wishing...I say add a FL front end to the dyna lineup to get back to the old flh look.

my .02

C'mon guys why not put a springer front on a sporty with a v rod engine and the dyna 6 speed with fatboy wheels and true dual exhaust under the hardbags. Quit dreaming

The Moco is gonna keep it basically the same with a few small changes. Why? because we keep buying them no matter what they come up with. If we don't like the newest one, we buy an existing line. We are suckers. We buy for the HD. Because it stands for soo much. Not the fastest or smoothest, but the most respected and sought after motorcycle out there HD!

Thats my .02 worth.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why HD has been around for over a century.
It's all about the UNchanged nostalgia.
Want a perfected, 21 century HD style bike, buy a metric.. Maybe a V-Rod?
See what I mean....

I hope they don't change a damn thing.

If you want modern technology with old school looks, buy a Victory. They are cheaper than HD, have a 100 cubic inch engine, and are more refined than a Harley, Unfortunatley they do not look or ride like a Harley Davidson.

For all touring bikes get 6 speed tranny with 103ci motor off the assembly line I dont mind paying an extra couple grand to buy them but it would be far cheaper than getting it done later!
Or I want all HD parts 50% price reduction so I can do a 103 in my new Ultra myself

george c, unchanged? you better look back at some of the old HD's. I don't see a flh style bike in the current lineup. (i don't understand why they don't)
Softail lineup hasn't been around that long either.
They've kept the tank and fender stylings the same but everything else changes regularly....Just try fitting a part from a 90's softail to a new one. This way they can gouge us when they sell accessories.

When I say unchanged, they are basically unchanged.
Look at any other motorcycle company. They change models and designs every three years. Honda, Yamaha and other Metrics will introduce more changes in one year that what HD will see in 20.
Yeah, a different frame, some different models, different parts and pieces to keep HD accessories selling.
The look, the single pin crank 45 degree V-twin have remained basically the same for the last 75 years, and will remain the same as long as the EPA doesn't try and save the world.
