what is the easiest - best - cheapest ,way to lube a clutch cable mine gets progresivly harder to pull. have taken it loose from the lever and dripped oil down it in the past for a day or so and this helps a lot but is real slow

I use Dryslide.

 

Cable lubes are usually thinner than oil, have an applicator, and will last longer than plain oil.
