Supposedly the 21" will feel heavier as it has a greater diameter. I'll let you know in a few weeks as I am waiting for mine to arrive. I will also be putting an Avon Venom 90/21 on a 3" rim.
I used a 21 from a stock harley with an mh90 avon I just cut out my old hub from my 16"and relaced it with this 21" outer. The spacing was a little off with the complete 21" setup, thats why i cut my old wheel apart. Ive seen some with 3.5 and its a super low sidewall. I bang the crap out of mine like they are

I personally think it makes the steering feel lighter. Especially if you go with a narrower tire than stock.
hi guys,
im coming in a little late in the conversation but ive just bought a 2009 deluxe. Is the 21" 2.15 rim too thin for the deluxe guard? ive found it hard to find a white wall tire to fit the bigger sizes ie 3" and 3.5" rims.
anyway Ive ordered the 2.15" already just want some reassurance that it will look good?
OS deluxe your ride is awesome. it inspoired me to sell my springer and get on the deluxe. thanks for your posts you ve been a real help.

Even thought there are plenty of people who have had no issue with a 3" or 3.5" rin with a 90/21 tire (which is meant to be run on a 2.15" width rim we have had a few customers who have dented their rims with this configuration. I will not sell this combination for this specific reason, liability and such.
I ran my bike with the same configuration for several years and did not have any ill effects although when I went to a 120/70/21 tire the ride was much smoother. Diamond Back is making the 120/70/21 Metzeler WWW tires again although the cost is quite a bit more than a 90/21 WWW.
If you do choose to go with a 90/21 on a wide rim make sure that you run a tuve as the bead does not seat as well as it would on tire that is actually the proper size for the wider rim.

My experience with the 90/90-21 and 2.15 setup was not good. I was
following a car down the street and could not see the 12"x1" pothole in
time to avoid it. Put a ding in my rim so I went with the 120/70-21 and
3.5 rim. Hopefully this setup will be better. We'll see.
