Default ECM stage?

I bought a 2004 deuce about a month ago and I want to get a power commander to get rid of the decel popping and I was wondering if it mattered if I knew what stage the ECM was at. I thought the PCIII overrode the ECM and it wouldn't matter what was downloaded into it. The bike has had the stage 1 mod for a AC and exhaust but then later a stage 1 big bore kit was put on and it doesn't say if the ECM was re-calibrated in the work order. Thanks for any info, Troy.

The PCIII intercepts the signal from the ECM and modifies it according to the PCIII's downloaded map...regardless of what is downloaded to the ECM...get the PCIII and you're good to go.

Get a dyno tune done or get a thundermax with autotune. The difference between what the canned map and the dyno tune was as much as +17 and -10. I dont have a weak spot anywhere. Can even run flat road at 55 in 6th gear

You will have to know what downloads were done to the ecm before you go with the PCIII. Why do you think they have different maps for different hd flashes. If you go with a PCIII and have it dynoed then it doesn't matter.

If you want to use a canned PCIII map, then it does matter what donload you have.

Thanks for the info, I figured it mattered for the canned maps, I am just gonna get it dynoed or spend the money on the thundermax.

I am assuming the thundermax requires the O2 sensors to autotune itself, correct?

I was told my bike has a tage 1 ecm download and ahve a pcIII so i Used the proper ecm setting map, but I ahve tried all sorts of maps and have not seen that much difference between them. Call Dynojet and ask if they have a map with your setup with stage 1 and without, and see how it runs with both. Loading the maps is simple enough.
