Default Fat Boy rims- modify-able?

Was thinking about doing some "DIY" customization to my solid Fat Boy rims- anyone ever seen this done? Was thinking of having a machine shop bore some 1.75-2.0" holes in them (about 8 holes), and then powdercoating the remaining face gloss black, and having the outer lip polished/chromed. Just wondering if anyone knows of any structural issues with modifying these wheels?

Also- my bike is a '98. What model years Fat Boy rims would fit it? Any limitations???

Thanks!

There was guy on ebay that would cut custom designs on fatboy rims. You just send in your rims and they cut them and send them back. I don't remember the price or seller though.

I did that with my Train rear wheel awhile back. Made it match the belt pulley. This pic was the raw cut. When I get to the other computer I'll post one of it with the rim polished and center powder coated.

FayBoy rims are really strong. I dought that a few holes punched in one could make any differance. I think what you want to do would look real good. I think all the rims through 06' will fit your bike.

Here is the address to one of the people that modify the rims. The price seems reasonable and they look good.

Those real cool! That may end up cheaper than a set of wheels.

Anyone here work with Witch Doctors?

Had my 05 fatboy rims sent to Florida and cut ( found on e-bay ) and then shipped to California and had them Black Chromed, and also put on the new Michelins from Harley.
