Default Removed belt guards

Just removed my belt guards. I know there is some what of a risk with this, but I think it just looks so much better with them off. Really shows off the pulley better. Any thoughts?

old school, looks great. nuts! i see you have a chrome swing arm. i removed mine as well................ really cleaned her up. cut the tabs off with a cut off wheel, filed down, sanded then touched up with some gloss black auto paint in a rattle can. easy to do and best of all its cheap!

I like the look, I did the same to mine two years ago, then on a Sturgis run I ran a rock between the pulley and belt had a nice big hole in the belt.
Mine are back on.

You hear all sorts of horror stories about belts coming off bikes without the guards on but has anyone had this happen first hand and if so what has the damage been?

The belt guards don't keep the guard on....but may keep debris from getting between belt and pulley that would cause trouble. That being the case, it would make more sense to keep the lower guard on

Nice look, especially with black tires.

Total crap shoot on this. One person could go a hundred years with no problems, I on the other hand, would probably go through a belt a month.

Looks awsome. I have kept mine on because of my saddle bags, you cant really see them on my bike so why not keep them and maybe make the belt last a little longer.
