Default Had thundermax dyno'd today

I had it dyno'd to see what hp & tq I was getting and how the afr was.
I pull'd 82hp and 89tq and the dyno guy said stock HD usually pull around 68-69 on his dyno.
The AFR was pretty flat but when the chart was blown up more you could see it did have a bit of rich spots and off idle it was very rich.

He told me that I could probably get even more power out of it by "upgrading" the map after riding it each 5 times.

Other than clearing what the max has learned and letting it start over I know of no method to make it keep what it has learned and then reset how much it has learned so it will learn more (if that makes sense).

Can anyone tell me how I would do this, if possible?

sorry can't answer your tuning question...just wanted to comment that I think you put together a good combo...heck I have an 07 dyna with same pipe and aircleaner, power commander, andrews 37 cams and street ported heads, good bit more money...it only makes 12 more hp and 8 more tq...and the tq is what moves you!

I am assuming by more money you are talking about your heads. I am thinking about getting a set of Headquarters heads and seeing what they do with the stock 96 pistons. I know it will free up a lot more!

Why would you want to keep what it learned if the engine needs a change? The is the nice thing on auto tune is it will change when needed. It stays at the afr you set it at

Had my Fat Boy dyno'd at Shumate Harley in Spokane WA. pulled 87 hp and 92 trq
running D&D Fat Cat and Redshift 575 cams. Maybe it should be higher?

The system only learns so much. When thundermax looked at my tune a few months back they said it had learned all it could. They had to adjust the idle tune as I was very lean.
They adjusted the map between 2500-3000 as I was very rich, then it was off and learning again.
My point is it will only learn so far. If my line still shows some rich spots and I have ridden it thousands of miles, what do I do?
Go to the RPM range of richness and change the map? Since I don't know the range this is impossible.
The dyno guy is a certified thundermax guy. He said he calls thundermax all the time and has them lead him through making these changes but I don't know what to change.

Firstly, impossible to compare two different dyno numbers.
Second the major change for you is the 575 cams with stock heads and pistons. The reason I went with the 500's is Kevin at Headquarters told me the 575's are probably over cam'd if I am staying stock pistons. Also who knows your cams may come on much sooner than mine where it is more important for bigger bikes. I ride mine at higher rpms like a sport bike.

Hey Sport,
The Tmax has a limit to what it can learn. This limit is set in the calibration screen, the normal settings are 5% for each time the bike is started and 20% change from original map. The best thing you can do is to read the map and save it as a new name, then reload the map with the new name you just gave it. I would suggest doing this every 2 weeks after a change to the motor then every 2-3 months after that. This will allow the tmax to keep updating. We have had good luck with this procedures.

I'm starting to see the same thing. It will only learn so much at it's percentage setting. If the map is drastically altered it maybe out of learning range. Two choices would be to increase the learning percentage, which may have a problem, and I forgot what that was. So, what I will be doing from now on is if major changes are made to map is clear the offsets and let it start over from there. Gut feeling is it would work out better this way.
