Ok, so I can use a different tooth pulley without the bike spontaneously combusting on me, good to know, that was my concern.
So going to a higher count would give more RPMs at the rear? might make the speedometer off, but give better MPG?
just picked up an 07 softail pulley at swap meet 2day actually. it says right on it 66 tooth and it came off a stock 07 fatboy which is the same as the standard/train.
Hey Mark, hows it goin man? Just blowin more money on some new wheels, but trying to figure out if I can use the pulley for them, only available in 65 or 70 tooth, not 66.
Any tech support out there, 65 or 70 tooth be acceptable instead of a 66?

I went thru this on my heritage.
70th some have said it will work. I don't think it will myself as there isn't enough room to adjust on the axle adjusters and you also would have to change the primary belt. That makes it a bigger job now.
65 tooth might work... but you would change your gearing. I still don't think it will as not enough adjustment in the axle adjusters. Could be wrong though.
DNA makes a 66th replacement and I know Dinger got his from hogpro in a 66th.
Yeah I changed my 07 pulley which was a 66 to an aftermarket pulley that matched the wheels, it was a 65 tooth. It left me barely any room for adjustment out the back of the adjuster. And ended up binding on the brake caliper. After about 2 months of belt tension issues went back to the 66.
DNA's 66th sprocket is only in a 1 1/8". How do I know this for sure? I am running one on my 07 Heritage. It will work. Your only talking an 1/8 of inch.
Look at Dingers bike, he as a 66th on his I believe in a 1"... which also works.
