I was at the dealer today looking around and they had two new CVO bikes. A Springer Softail and a Fatbob, very nice. I liked the Fatbob a lot, the Springer wasn't bad but I disliked the oil tank, they used the Rockers instead of the more usual steel version.
Anyway I also noticed that they both had Tri-Bar tailights but the Fatbob's had a really nice chrome cover with slots for the light bars but covered everything else.
When I asked the parts guy about it he had no idea what I was talking about until I showed it to him. We looked through all the parts catalogs but had no luck finding it. He thinks its just too new a part and might be in one of the future supplemental catalogs.
Has anyone ever seen it before and if so do you have any idea if it is the same Tri-Bar light that's sold for the bobtail fenders on Softails?
I really would like to get my hands on one of those covers for my bike.
The Fatbob's rear tire is only a 180, I just looked it up. But that might explain why the Bob had it and the Springer didn't. The Springer does have the 240 and its fender had a different (slightly) contour to it.
would like to see a picture of this. if anyone gets the chance.
Well that was all the excuse I needed to go back and take another look, this time with a camera.
Sorry if the pics suck, the lighting in the dealer is rotten and the bright yellow bike makes it tough to get a decent pic of it indoors.
I grabbed a friend and we dug up the parts manual and actually found the part number for it 68429-09. We also found they want $132.95 for the silly thing.
They are offering the Tri-Bar for the Fatbob this year but it has a different part number than the one for Softails. We looked over both of them on the Fatbob and another on an SE Springer and they are different. But the differences seem to be in the mounting and the outside (what follows the inside fender contour) dimentions. The actual light part appears to be exactly the same and the two screws they use to attach the cover (the parts catalog calls it that) appear to be the same size and 7.25" spacing.
I really like it.......but $132.95?
And I thought I couldn't be shocked by any price from the MoCo.
When my friend looked it up, and he's the guy who sold me my bike, he was shocked at the price and surprised that I was happy it was only $140. I had guessed it was going to be around $150.

I haven't had a chance to check it, so thanks for doing it for me. $86 + shipping is one hell of a lot better than what the MOCO wants for it.
I can understand why its that expensive, but I don't have to like it and as soon as I can get the extra bucks I think I'll be ordering one.
Just one more thing ($$$$) to add to the list of my winters mods.
