Default Potato, potato...

Everyone like the low idle or "Potato, Potato" sound our bikes make.
While my bike was being serviced the other day the Harley Technician,
said my idle was too low. It was set aaround 750 or so.
He said that's no good for the bottom end. So he raised it to 900 - 1100
What's your idle set to ? Mine seems way too high now...

It's true...The twin-cam is supposed to be set somwehere around 900-1100 for the oil pressure.

Edit:
Oops.....just realized your running an EVO, I have no idea about the idle on those, my bad.

Heck, it idles so fast, when I go to make a cold start up,
I won't even need to pull out the choke...

Spot on. Evo's need to idle quicker more so then the twin cam. Idle an Evo to slow and you will have very minimum oil flow....

Both my Evo's idle at 1000. No need to beat the **** out of the bottom end bearings and reduce the oil flow just to get the sound.

Too low an idle = too little oil, especially on the bottom end. Great way to make square bearings.
