Default Brake Light??

I just replaced the grips, and switch cover housing on my 2003 Fatboy, and now my brake light will not go off? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you all.

I had almost the same problem, where all my lights would not turn of even with the bike completely off, i wiggled the negative battery cable and noticed it was really loose causing the bike to keep all the lights on...Tightened up and all better.

Its a weak answer, but hopefully something simple like that.

In your right control housing there is a switch that gets activated when your brake lever is depressed. I am 100% certin that you do not have your brake lever properly secured right next to the switch housing. Trust me on this one… I did the same thing.

Take off your brake lever and you will see the dimple like switch I am talking about. Push it in and your lights will go off, let it back out and your lights will come on.

Before you take everything off, just loosen up the four bolts/screws that hold the master cylinder and brake lever assembly in place. Move the entire assembly around a little and see if the brake lights go off. Often, that switch is just not seated correctly. The next step is to take off the lever and check from there.

If you had the brake lever off and reinstalled it without holding the switch inside the handle in, its probably broken. Seen it happen more than once.

What they said! when your are putting your right switch housing back together you need to pull your front brake lever in, our you can break your brakeswitch our it won't seat right.

At least once a month someone on the forum breaks one of those switches. Forgot to put the shim in, right. Welcome to the club. Usually only happens once. Forgetting to put the little brass flat spring in behind the switch can cause the lights to stay on also.
