Personally, i like my rush slip ons. But I agree 100% with mojo. buy the pipes from eastern performance on ebay or warehousedirec or somewhree like that and save some serious coin. If you have the space install the pipes yourself with a friend. Also, just because you install new pipes does not particularly mean you have to add a tuner, but your bike will run better with a tuner. I have a powercommander, and it does the job. Although I am seriously considering a SERT or TTS tuner b/c the powercommander does not utilize the o2 sensors. As far as slipons or what you really want-buy what you want the first time and be done with it.

Go with the pipes. You won't need a tuner unless you do a a/c upgrade.

If you want the true duals then spend the money now. I installed a pair on my Deluxe and really like the look and sound. Here is something to consider. At 1200 dollars is the dealer going to really "tune" as in dyno tune or load a map from the tuner that is close?
Pipes are around 525.00 off ebay from Eastern Performance. (no fish tails, or quiet baffle) With those added figure close to 700.00
A SE tuner is 400.00 or so
No much left for install and a dyno tune.
I went from SE Double barrels (same as V&H Q series) with a quiet baffle instead of the All metal Q baffle. to the SE true duals.
I lost about 7hp and 10lbs of torque between Double barrels and HD download to the true duals and a preloaded map in the PCIII. Could I tell much difference by the seat of the pants. Not really.

I had the bike dyno tuned and got all my HP and TQ. back where I was before. Could I tell a difference then. I could. Why ? the tune was for those pipes on my bike and tuned every increment of 200 rpm. or so. The tuner I am sure was not the best around and not tuning to get every ounce of HP out of my bike, however the tune made the throttle responce much better. I get no pops,
hicups or anything. Runs great. I often wonder where it would be with a good tune on my old pipes. You loose a little with true duals, however I am OK with that for the cool factor.

V&H do it your self and save $$$ you will not need to tune unless you get a different air cleaner then get a fuel pack & follow the directions, if you can change a tire and use a computer you are over qualified to do this work go 4 it !!!

I did mine for < $900. New pipes from ebay, SE intake filter from dealer 20% off sale, PCIII from Fuelmoto, oh and lets not forget the exhaust gaskets. Plan to get a dyno in the future which will run about $300. I am pleased with the performance. Only negative is installing the PCIII. It is a pain. The same mods including a SERT and tune was about $1800 from the dealer. Now they have the SEST which is $550.

Get what you really want now. If you want LOUD and better performance go for the V and H. If you aren't really into LOUD pipes get the Screamin' Eagles. I also agree that you should install yourself. With true duals it is a fair amount of work, but not difficult by any means. I got a pcIII myself and also installed that. Get a Big Sucker air cleaner and call it a day. If you are hell bent on the absolute best performance take for a dyno after all the installs. Either way, get what you want now as opposed to only spending so much and getting something that might work for now as I can tell you like everyone else that never works. You'll be happy for a couple of weeks till you come across a bike with the pipes you were thinking about, and then you'll say Fu&^ it and get what you orginally wanted.

Like others say I went with Rush slip with SE/kn, sert and dyno at 1k on my Heritage, I like the look of stock pipes and love the sound of the 2in rush. But couldnt tell much difference in seat of pants though the dyno tune helped with engine smoothness and it did cool the oil temp down 15-20.
Now after 2 yrs Iam looking at other pipes for better performance than what just slip ons gives.
D&D fatcats, so far my 1st pick but are really loud, V&H pro pipe or maybe even Big shot longs, a good set of 2-1 really help tq in the 2-4k along with some cams is now where I am headed,
If I had picked the right pipes at first I would have not blown the 600 it cost the first time (Pipes, install, and dyno)to redue them again. Might not even want cams with the better gains of a good set of pipes and tune over stock headers....
