I'm on my second Springer the first was a 93 FX
and my second is a 05 Classic
have never had a problem with ether one, other then the 05 it did pick up a bit of a front end shake at about 20,000 mi. but the front tire was really showing some wear and cupping put a new front tire on and that fixed the problem. Both great bikes.
You should get it if you want it. Never have had one but they do look killer. As far as the brand new bike for sale syndrome, it's everywhere. I bought my bike with 10000 miles on it and it was nearly 4 years old. That was HIGH mileage bike from what I could find around here. KInda makes me chuckle, but it's all good.
Sorry dude, I can't talk you out of it. I love mine. It's a standard, not a Heritage. I've never experienced the shimmy that others have reported and I ride hard in the twisties to the point of accidentally scraping stuff sometimes. She sticks like glue. But then that's at lower speeds and I don't go over maybe 75 or 80 ever (that I know of).
Anyway, if you get her you will probably notice that she handles differently. Not bad, just different. Yep, they can be a little boucy in freeway expansion joints when the harmonics are right and are somewhat floppy at very low speeds, but not bad. Just have to learn to listen to what she's telling you. There is some extra maintenance as posted above.

+1 - 1994 FXSTS, never had a shimmy. Rides like it's on rails through the twisties, and I hit em 20-30 mph over the suggested speed limit. Takes some getting used to if you're coming from a wide glide front end, it's more like a narrow glide. Sorry can't talk you outta it, I got my eyes on a 1998 Heritage Springer myself. Waiting for the economy to bottom out so I can steal it.
