No matter how much i try to talk myself out of it i want more power. I really wana add the hq 103 sport touring kit on my 08 night train. The kit is $1500. What is the average cost everyone else is paying to havethis stuff installed. I plan on adding apes over winter and plan to do it myself with help from a friend. But i dont know if i would dig into the motor on my own.
Keep this in mind- the price that you saw on the website doesn't include compression releases (good option, because the 103" ST is 10.5 to 1 compression), new push rods, push rod covers, or cams.....$1500 gets your heads re-worked, cylinders bored, new pistons, rings, and top end gaskets. But, the HQ packages are supposed to be killer! Check out the engine section, or PM Dalton, or PhilM. They're both big HQ supporters. Good luck.

My average labor cost $$ has been killing me...well when I bought the bike, too install the stage 2 103 cost me 9hours at $70.00 @ hr. To finish my 103, w ported heads upgrade cams 264's perfect pushrods some of this and that, another 12 hours.
So, my suggestion is to do your homework, plan it out..... and don't piece meal it out, like Im stuck doing, cause its costing me!!! $$$
any time you want more hp you gotta pay for it, theres no other way around it. and the more you want the morrrre you will pay. get used to it. good luck. im in canada try paying 5,500 for your big bore, now thats something to cry over. all for 97 hp and 110 tq , but i forget about it when im riding and my arms are being stretched by the torque. every time i grab a hand full of throttle.

So the hq kit doesnt come with cam? I was wondering that. Can they really get the numbers they claim without puttin cams in? If thats the case i could put the cams and gear drive this year and get money to do the big bore and heads next year.

the gear drive and the cam are 2 different items. its up to you which cam you use. thats why you need to talk to the builder of your engine before you start your build. you must factor in all aspects of the build before you start. especially cam size and lift. by the way hq does get some strong numbers, but check out bob woods cams , they are super torquey cams . i consider them the best bang for your buck, just mention woods cams to your builder and see what he says. plan your build from beginning to end so it will all come together like a puzzle with no regrets. good luck
