I tried and tried,,,could not get the gap to close.
I took the trim ring back to the dealer.

There was a gap in mine, when I removed the old style headlight. I'm attempting to put in the new style headlight (2007 and up) on my 03' FXST. What a beyatch! The rubber block in the headlight shell seems to have to be compressed to even get the trim ring to close tight enough to get the screw started. Looks like you need an extra hand to push on the headlamp, while another set compresses the Trim Ring tight enough to start the screw. Any suggestions?

Tougher to get on right than I thought too but after some finageling mine's tight.

Thanks, I attempted this morning, as I wanted to ride the bike to work, but a half hour (and a few choice words later), I walked away from it. I'll look at it again tonight.

You asked for a pic although probably not much help. The ring was installed by the prior owner so not much help other than to say no gap and imo it looks much better.
