here is what my air cleaner looks like. I haven't gotten caught out on any rain storms, but it's bound to happen. i was wondering if my engine would get flooded with my air cleaner set up since it's facing up instead of forward??
I don't think they make socks for this type of air cleaner.

With the air cleaner set up the way it is, you'll get less water in it because the back side should stay fairly dry when you're riding (the rain will be hitting the front). If it was facing towards the front, the rain would be hitting all sides of the filter.
On the other hand, the airflow would be better if the filter was facing towards the front instead of up, because the wind would be forcing the air into the filter all the way around.
I believe there are socks that are sold for those types of filters.

what do you guys think?
Well i think you need to tell me where you got it from ...i want one too..

Agreed... but if it's parked and in the rain, it will act like a funnel right into the throttle body.

I'm not saying one way is better than the other, I'm just answering the question without a mile long synopsis. I also assumed he may be like me and ride his bike a lot more than have it parked. If it were me with that type of filter, aand it was parked in the rain, I'd do my best to park it under some cover.
Also, if you choose a filter like that, you have to take a bit more responsibility since the water will get to the filter so easily. I chose to stick with my stock cover for this reason, even though I was really looking forward to buying a hypercharger. Don't know if I'll part with the stock football cover yet.
thanks for the answers fellers. i wasn't sure if they made socks for my cleaner.
I didn't realize that if i was riding it in the rain the back of the filter would stay pretty dry. If i have it parked outside it would definitely get soaked. lololol
so you thought about getting the hypercharger but didnt because of the rain getting into it? i was planning on getting one and i will occasionally get caught in the rain...you really think that will be a problem? if so do they make socks for it? cus ill have to carry one on me then...im really set on getting it....just love the look of the chrome butterfly valves....

I checked them out, and saw it in person on a few bikes. Looks great! Supposed to add a bit more horsepower and performance.
The only 2 drawbacks I found were (1) if you're caught in the rain, you'll need to put a sock on it so the rain doesn't get forced inside (2) it sticks out a bit more than the stock filter cover, so your leg will contact it a bit.
Haven't made up my mind yet and I'm going to check them out more and see what kind of deal I can get at the 2009 bike show. http://www.supershowevents.com/super/index.html
Yeah originally I liked the pro-r too....BUT i think ima go with the blood groove for now and slap on that stinger door that goes with it....i think its looks a little better than the pro-r....ends up around the same price...
well then ill just get a sock for it...thanks!
and about the leg things...im 6'-3" and i already ride like im hanging on to the back o bronco or something...so....cant wait!!!
