I'm confused ???

1st you say you are gonna add a hi-flow air filter kit...

Now you say you are NOT gonna change it ???

If Ur leaving it how it is, & spark plugs read fine, runs fine..

Then just ride it..

Default carb

Get a mirror, look at the bottom of the carb to see if the plug covering the idle mix screw has been drilled out, or if a new finger turn mix screw has been installed. If it has, then someone may have rejetted the carb or at least been in it before. If the plug is still there, then most likely it is still factory.

Plugs ok, runs ok, MPG is good? Then don't try to fix something that ain't broke.

If you go with new AC, then put in new plugs and check them to see if you have leaned out?

Lots of info on here about plug reading.

Yes because i thought about it, every action has a reaction, and if its fine why add a "higher flow" air cleaner, i wont feel the differentce in power at all, and it will make my bike lean why do it.....

Default Accoring to this..

http://www.thunderheader.net/tech.php

according to the tech sheet at thunderheader it seems the way its designed so you may not need to rejet, if your bike is stock.... fyi for people......

I see a screw that is furthest away from everything that has been drilled out, the one directly below the butterfly, so i imagine this is what your talking about so i am guess it has been jetted... I am going to put a fresh set of plugs in and see, i have a feeling it might be running rich as the plugs look alittle more dark tan..... maybe i HAVE to get a free flowing intake....

sounds like you found the 'idle-mix' screw location..
Yep if un-capped, it's at least had the idle-mix re-adjusted..

A motor is like an air pump, the more it can inhale & exhale, the more efficient it runs.

That picture of your bike ? shows an S&S air cover, what air filter is in it ??

No that pic is my old bike, i have a newer fatboy now, black and chrome..... i love it, although its twice as slow... but the bike in the pic had alot of work done to it, cam, carb, exhuast, wheels, leaks, and such a torque motor it need a fully charged battery to start or it flooded the plugs everytime.... which made me nervous to take on long trips, the fatboy feels alot more reliable, and it is more my style, plus it has a vaccume petcock (whoo hoo) but he had 16 ape hangers on it, that i am taking off, sorry if you like apes but they are uuulgy and i am not white with a beard and long hair (kidding stereotype), but how the heck do u steer with those, and my hands and arms fall asleep in like 20 min... beach bars are comming in.....

Sorry radius the front, bottom edge of the slide that goes up and down. I'm told it helps smooth out the air making it flow more. Sounds to me like it's fine. Like I said they like to be run rich. It will help keep your motor cool. If it has pipes you should put at least a k&n filter in the stock location. Give ya a little more omph anyway.
