I have a 06 Standard like yours (same color), I put V&H straight shots on it and I love them. I like the classic look of staggered drag pipes and I like a clean bike with not a lot of crap hanging off it. They make my bike look sleek and fast. They are loud even with the stock 12 inch removeable baffles that come with them but they sound bad ***.
I put a couple hundred miles on the bike while waiting for the pipes to come in and then the dealer put them on with a SE Race Tuner and new air cleaner. It runs perfect, good and strong, no poppin or any of that crap, did not lose any power anywhere that I can tell like some guys say when going to true duals.
I looked at the stepped drag pipes but saw some in person and I did not like them as much as the straight shots. I also heard they were much louder, actually too much. Hope this helps,
