Here's another possibility -
I have the Rumble Road 4" speakers built in passing lamp cans. They have built in amps. I can hear them with my true duals (no quiet baffles) when we're cruising. Have to turn them down at a stop light. Had them for a year (6000 miles) with no problems.
Just ordered the 3" Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome Speakers - Part #852 and the Kuryakyn IPOD / MP3 Handlebar mount - Part #1421 over the weekend. I hope to have these installed sometime later this week or this weekend. I will give you my opinion on sound, installation and will try to post some pictures.
I installed uniqcycle's setup on my 08 Deluxe, with satellite radio. They can be heard on the highway (not like your living room) but overall we are happy with them. We have 35,000 km's on the bike and the music made it a lot more enjoyable for us. In my albums you may be able to pick out the speakers, they are mounted on the handle bar risers. They aren't to noticeable. I have a plan for a better sound system, if it works I'll post it. It'll take a bit of time to get the odds and ends then try it out.
I have an 05 heritage and installed my uniq speakers on the highway crash bars! they sound great! look like they belong. look like the passing lamps. Sound best with windshield but without good till about 65. I have the volume control but you dont need it because the ipod volume is adjustable.
What and how did you do this? I am looking for a tunes option without having to go with a windshield of some kind.
Well I Went With Cycle Sounds And Went With The 2 Inch Specker Set Up ,,It Worked Out Nicely, Here Are A Few Pictures In The Pictures You Will See Them On Top Of The Bar, BUT
I Got two Clamps From Cycle Sound Now They On The Bottem Of The Bar In The Last Picture You Might See The Speckers On The Bottem Of The Bars With The Clamp http://cyclesounds.com
I went with the 3" Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome Speakers - Part #852 and the Kuryakyn IPOD / MP3 Handlebar mount - Part #1421. I installed these over the weekend, so hopefully the pictures posted turn out OK. These are fairly easy to install, but running the wire from the Battery under the tank takes time and finding a place for the noise suppressor under the seat is not easy. I do think the sound overall is very good (not a lot of bass), they look good and with the bike running and the speakers turned up you can hear them clearly. The true test will be if I can hear them while riding with wind noise?
Looks Like You Did A Good Job,, They Don't Hit Your Gas Tank ???
Well I Went With The 2 Inch Because I Got The Set Up Off E-bay for $159.00 everything
And It Was New In The Box
Wow, that's a really good price for the Cycle Sounds. The speaker location in the last picture is very nice. The main reason I went with the Kuryakyn system is they were 3", the amp is built into a speaker and one of the speakers has a on/off volume control. It was a very tough decision though. Have you rode with these yet? Can you hear them on the road? I live in Michigan, so I probably won't try them out for another month or so, unless I get it out today (suppose to be close to 60 degrees).
