This is the first bike I've had with floorboards. Mine is a SE Fat Boy. They put 2" longer boards on them, so your feet can extend further forward, if you want.
I had a heel shifter on it for the first few months, but took it off. This way I can slide my feet back and forth as much as I want. It took several rides before I got use to bringing my feet forward onto the boards. It was like a muscle memory thing. When I would take off my toes would just barely catch the rear part of the floor boards, since I was so use to mid pegs.
The other difference was whenever I would see a pot hole or bump in the pavement, I use to automatically stand up on the pegs, a little, to absorb the bump, when I had mid pegs. It isn't as natural doing it on floorboards.
The floorboards are more comfortable and allow you to move around more. I would have to stay with floorboards now.

Went from a FXDC to my FB last year and had no problems at all adjusting to the footboards (both me and my size 11.5's). I wouldn't be without them now.

I ordered the HarleyGoodies floorboard extensions yesterday. Going to order the
Kuryakyn MK III Cruiser Arms/Pegs in the next couple of weeks.

My point? Floorboards are not a problem... you may even want to extend them or
attach cruiser arms for more comfort.

Well I just got too cramped with my boards and rode a buddies with forwards, guess what, now I have forwards too.
For me it was strictly a personal choice for comfort and I couldn't be happier.

My first was the FB with boards. Love them so much I put a set on for my wife as the passenger also. She loves them too.

I had a sportster and went to the 07 Fatboy. I like the floor boards for riding. It is more relaxing as you don't use your feet to control the bike. The offset only effects when I corner. I change the front to a Metzler and it was a big improvement but the turn/lean angle is still different from left and right turns. I just changed the front tire from Metzler 15/80 to a 120/70 and it is like day and night. the smaller tire turns with little or no effort. I just lean and I turn and don't have to force the turn. ride and tire grip is the same as the larger Metzler.
