For the first 5-10 minutes of riding, I am having a hard time getting the bike to shift from 1st to second gear. It's just really hard to push up...have to do it 2 or 3 times before it changes to secnd. Any ideas on why? Someone told me it may just be that everything needs to "warm up", but it doesn't do it between any other gears, and I never had this problem when I had a Nightster. Thoughts?
Glad you posted this thread, I thought that my '07 Deluxe was the only one that does this.
Upshifting into 2nd takes alot more effort than the rest of the shifts. It is more noticeable when the bike is cold. Not so much after the bike has warmed up. Maybe some else has an answer.
Sounds like a clutch adjustment needed?? Mine was a "little" difficult when new...I did switch to Spectro 6 speed oil in the trans...and that helped...but I never had a problem where it wouldn't go into 2nd without "forcing" it....
I would say the cable adjustment is needed too. Other wise I had a problem where the shifter would not return. I had to take it apart and clean the housing where the linkage and shifters pass through.
I have run Amsoil MCV in mine since 1k. All 6 gears shift fine, cold or hot. Coming up on 5k so I will be changing out the engine oil and all the other 5k tasks. Actually now that I think about it I am coming up on the 1yr anniversary of owning it.
