I had the dealer's service department do the lowering, but I got the lowering kit from J&P: http://www.jpcycles.com/productdetail.aspx?PID=700-210. I don't remember what the dealer charged but I think it was two hours of labor.
I don't scrape the boards at all now that I'm used to what it feels like riding it lowered. Besides looking bad *** IMO, I think it handles better this way too.
Kick *** man, thanks for the links. I do have a question if you remember, if i buy the exact same lowering kit from J&P, all i need to do is take it and the bike into a harley dealer and they charge w/e for labor and thats it?
I talked to them today and they quoted me at 660$ after 2.5hrs labor for the new shocks that they would have to order. If i could pay 99$ from J&P and then 2hrs of labor (78$ an hr) that would same me a **** load.

Yep, that's it. The J&P kit uses your stock shocks so you buy the kit and pay the dealer for the install labor.
