Default changing levers

In am going to change out my stock levers (clutch and front brake) on my 02 Fatboy for some new chrome ones...I do have a shop manual, but is there any tricks or tips i should know before attempting this? I am concerned about changing the front brake lever!!

Can't swear on an 02 but on my 04 Heritage was just a matter of taking off the snap rings below the Levers and replacing them back .. didn't have to touch any adjustments ..

While you're out, get a couple of extra snap rings ...

I was told to put some cardboard or something to hold the brake switch back...and if I didnt I would break it?? any truth to this? I can turn a wrench on a car, hell I build cars from the ground up. But never really wrenched on my bike before.

I never use anything. Just be aware of it and really careful with the front brake switch.

Dont take 10 seconds to put a piece of cardboard in and SEE if the level breaks the switch....
