I was looking for opinions on stage one setups for power....Essentially I am wondering what setups have you found to make the most power. I was going to go with a PC and Thunderheaders but the more I have checked around the more it seems that the TH have a flat spot around 2500-3500??
I was looking this weekend at the Rineheart 2-1 and possibly a Daytona fuel injection controller. Ultimately I will go with a 103" as finances allow. All input is appreciated.
I hadn't heard of the flat spot thing before. Always though the Thunderheader 2 into 1 was supposed to be very good for low to medium rpm torque.
Any of the brand name 2 into 1 headers will do fine if the only thing your doing is adding the headers and a PC.
But for deeper more meaningful changes, like going to 103" it might be best to start by contacting a few of the bigger name makers to see what they have tried or if they have tested their products on bigger engine sizes.
Just remember that the scavenging properties inherent to a 2 into 1 system will nearly always give you a better dyno readings in the low to mid range regardless of engine size.
2 into 2 systems don't really start to benifit you until the rpm's get up much nearer to the ECM's rev limiter setting, and even for the best of them that's not always a sure thing.
More than a few of them are made more for looks than performance.
PS You might want to check out Super Trapp. They make a 2 into 1 that's tuneable.
It may or amy not sound as good, but they do have a fair bit of experience making perfomance headers.

Thanks for the input Citor...I may just go with the power commander and TH for the time being until I move further down the road....althogh I am still curious what others experiences are with the constant tuning systems...
In addition has anyone had an experience with the power commander not being able to compensate for the AFR that they are now creating? I understood the PC to be good for only around 15% increased AFR...assuming that is accurate it does not appear to leave anything available beyond an A/C and pipes.
I have a ThunderMax w/Autotune in my bike for a couple of years and so far its been really great. I haven't tried to tax the system with a lot parts changing, yet.
But so far I am very pleased with its performance. If I have a gripe about it, its that I haven't 'quite' figured out how to fine tune it. I just don't have the time to actually sit down with the laptop plugged into it to play with the software enough to get really comfortable with it.
Don't get me wrong, its a good system and well laid out. I would just like to be a bit more 'fluent' if you will with all of the softwares little idiosyncrasies and quirks. There's a lot of things you can play with in there and accidentally hitting the wrong button or doing something the wrong way might not be too healthy for the engine.
So I'm still consider myself near the bottom of the learning curve where that is concerned.

Call Jamie at Fuelmoto, that is what I did and I am one happy customer!! He has a complete stage 1 setup that you can bolt on yourself.

Again I appreciate the input I may delay with an auto tuner just for the simple act of playing it safe when it comes to attempting to tune it.
